Here’s the latest from Citywide Supervising Judge Jean T. Schneider, effective March 28, 2022:
- All trials will be presumptively in person. A party may ask the presiding judge to permit part or all of a specific trial to proceed virtually based upon the circumstances of the case.
- All cases in the HP Parts in which any party is not represented by counsel will be conducted entirely in person.
- All cases in the Small Property Parts will be conducted in person.
- Returning to the practice introduced in September 2021 under DRP 218, and later relaxed due to the Omicron surge, all cases assigned to Resolution Parts from Part A in Manhattan and Parts IP and IP2 elsewhere will be heard in person on the first appearance in the Resolution Part, with subsequent appearances to be virtual or in person at the judge’s discretion.
